Softball ACT Board Planning Day

Softball ACT Board Planning Day

The Softball ACT Board recently held a planning day to discuss the 2017/18 season and to look at ways to improve the operations and strategic direction of Softball in the ACT.

In particular, the following agenda items took precedence with a focus on improvement for all our members.

  • 2017/2018 Fee Structure
  • Junior Softball in the ACT
  • Softball ACT Office Structure

2017/2018 Fee Structure

The fee structure to be implemented this season will be two tiered, giving clubs an additional option on how they can pay their team fees.  Softball ACT will offer an early bird rate to all clubs that commit to online registrations and payment by a set date.  Online registrations will also allow clubs to accept player payments by credit card and direct deposit through the database.

Junior Softball in the ACT

Woden Valley Softball Association (WVSA) held an early AGM in May, and has voted in a new committee. The new WVSA Committee will work closely with North Side Juniors and Softball ACT to provide a unified approach to junior softball across the ACT.   The Board recognises that the junior base requires solid foundations moving forward to ensure a viable future for the sport.

Former Softball ACT President Frank Curcio recently conducted a review into junior softball in the ACT and we look forward to working with Frank and the Junior Committees on the actions and review recommendations.

Softball ACT Office Structure

Over the last 12 months we have made significant change within the Softball ACT office with new roles and staff taking on additional duties to keep up with the demand.  With our much improved financial position, the Board has chosen to make the General Manager role a full time position.  This full time position will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation and driving and delivering against the strategic plan and objectives.  Our goal is to build and maintain capacity and capability within the Softball ACT office.

The Board is committed to improving softball now and into the future and we look forward to seeing you at the AGM.
