Women's Skins

In 2018, Softball made the decision to launch a female version of the Men's Skins concept, citing the demand from members who had long-seen the excitement and fun that the Men’s tournament brought.

"Our female members love the Skins concept, and it’s quickly establishing a reputation as a great tournament across the country – we’ve got teams coming from as far as the Northern Territory to compete this year. The ACT has one of the premier facilities in the country for tournament softball, and we’re always looking for ways we service our members needs by bringing quality experiences to their doorstep. With regards to our adult participation, we’ve now got in place a full events calendar with Mens and Womens Skins tournaments, and early in 2020 we will launch our first ever ACT Masters event for Men and Women." – Ben Kirk, Ex-CEO – Softball ACT

Laing Harrow is an unabashed fan of the concept, having competed and coached himself in the Men’s version for many years. Now, as Head Coach of the Travelodge Aussie Spirit (Open Women’s National team), he highly recommends players and coaches aspiring to National representation to test their skills in the format.

“Skins is a fantastic format that tests not only the physical skills of softball, but also the ability of players and coaches to respond to pressure, adversity and challenges regularly that don’t present themselves often in a normal game of Softball. It’s strategic, but also provides that high intensity for athletes that is crucial for elite development and performance” – Laing Harrow, Head Coach, Travelodge Aussie Spirit

Next Women's Skins Competition

Serious money is up for grabs in the Skins competition. The men’s competition has more than 30 years of history, with teams and players from NSW, Victoria, South Australia, and the ADF competing against ACT’s best across three grades of competition. The women’s competition is only a few years old, but expect the competition to be just as fierce, with cash on offer for winning each inning and each game.

  • Dates: Found Here
