2022/23 Domestic Competition - Discussion Forums
Published Fri 29 Jul 2022
Prior to the 2022-23 Season, Softball ACT will hold two structured discussion forums to address proposed changes to the domestic Women's and Men's softball seasons.
When: Tuesday 16th August
Where: Clubhouse – Softball ACT Hawker
Time: Women’s: 6pm – 7:15pm, Men’s 7:30pm – 9pm
So the discussion can proceed in a coherent manner, any questions about changes to the domestic season need to be submitted prior to 12pm on Tuesday 9th August, using this form. After these questions have been addressed, the forum will include an open Q&A session to allow for further dialogue on the issues raised.
Women's proposed changes:
- Add a mid-week women's competition in both Social and Premier league.
- Social grade will be played on Monday night at 6:30pm and 8pm on Diamond 3.
- Premier league will be played on Tuesday night at 6:30pm and 8pm on Diamond 3.
- Both new competitions for the 2022-23 Season will be October 10th or 11th to December 19th or 20th.
Men's proposed changes:
Pre-Christmas, add an invitational team each week to play in the B grade competition. This team will play the 'bye' team. The intention of the invitational team is to:
- Provide a stronger team for state sthletes playing in B grade to play against.
- Provide a development opportunity for umpires that need more games to become an A grade umpire.
- The invitational team will be managed by a volunteer each week, who will ensure the right batteries and coaches are selected, based off what team they are playing.
- The invitational team will not be in A grade, as the players need strong competition leading into Men's World Cup and National Championship.
Softball ACT look forward to engaging in a positive dialogue with our community to address any concerns you may have for the domestic competition.
