Hawker Repair Café
Plus made-local market, including inaugural Art Exhibition from local artists, Isla Patterson and Jenny McEwen Mason.

The Hawker Men’s Shed (HMS) was established in October 2019 in Auspice with ACT Softball Association Inc. 

HMS’s marquee community project is hosting the Hawker Community Repair Cafés and the next Café will be held:

With a success rate of repairs to date of 87% for almost 400 items presented, ie items saved from going to local land fill.

Repairs and advice on how to fix items cover: fabric / woollen clothes, furnishings and toys, leather goods, electrical household appliances and shed tools, garden equipment, mowers, small motors, bicycles together with tool and knife sharpening.

A workshop on sharpening tools will be conducted at 11:30AM.

Electrical Tag and Testing will be available for $5.00 per item presented.

The HMS are also expanding their Repair Café to bring together more people from the local community by holding a 'made local' market including: material items, jewellery, garden ornaments, pre-loved household items, produce and tools, plants and pots from recycled materials.

A variety of Bird Boxes (Wild Life standard and back yard) and possum boxes will be for sale and/or order.

An inaugural art exhibition from two local award-winning artists, Isla Patterson and Jenny McEwen Mason, will be a highlight this Repair Café. Both artists will be in attendance to paint and answer any questions of interest.

Softball ACT are happy to support the Hawker Men’s Shed / Hawker Repair Café in providing environmentally sustainable projects and assisting in the community objectives of Hawker Men’s Shed.
