Get a taste for tournament play at the Diggers Cup
Published Mon 14 Feb 2022
Give your budding softball superstar the opportunity to taste tournament play at the inaugural Diggers Cup.
In this brand-new competition from Softball ACT, boys and girls in under 10 and under 12 age groups will take part in a Fully Loaded tournament at Hawker Softball Centre, over the weekend of April 23-24.
Softball ACT plan to make the Diggers Cup a regular feature of the softball calendar, with Competitions & Event Manager Georgia Duffy saying, “We are inviting teams from surrounding NSW areas, and hope to grow the carnival in the next few years, much like our Australia Day Carnival, or the Skins and Masters events.
“The focus will be on the enjoyment of participating in Teeball U10s and Softball U12s, but we also hope it’s an opportunity for families and friends to enjoy the long weekend together.”
As part of proceedings, Diggers Cup will also feature an ANZAC ceremony, with a reciting of the Ode of Remembrance, and the playing of the last post.
Registration is open to teams or individual players. Teams must supply an umpire and can register here: https://www.act.softball.org.au/events/127548/
Individual ACT players will participate in Canberra Pride Teams. The umpiring fee is waived for Canberra Pride players, as they undertake two volunteer duties throughout the carnival. Individual players can register here: https://www.act.softball.org.au/events/127550/
Players must be under the competition age as of 31 December 2022, and registrations close 8th April 2022.
