Registrations rolling in for the Australia Day Carnival
Published Wed 15 Dec 2021
Softball ACT are pleased to reveal that player and team registrations for the 2022 Australia Day Carnival have already begun rolling in.
To register as a Canberra Pride player, please click here. Registrations close Friday, 31 December.
To register an interstate team, please click here. Registrations close Thursday, 23 December.
While bushfires, border and travel restrictions led to the event being significantly impacted in 2020 and 2021, Softball ACT State Operations Manager Kyira Cox said they are optimistic the 2022 Carnival will feature strong participation numbers, with the organisation already taking many player and team registrations:
“The early indications have been very encouraging. I think people have fond memories of the Australia Day Carnival and are just looking forward to getting back out there and being part of the softball community again.”
Each team is expected to play approximately 8 games over the three-day event, with grand finals held on the final day in each age group. However, the emphasis of the Carnival is on participation rather than competitiveness.
As part of the Softball ACT pathway, Canberra-based players will play in Canberra Pride teams, formed from players across the regular ACT club teams. Canberra Pride then take on teams from NSW, with invitations also extended to Victoria and South Australia.
