Softball Community Unites to Strike Out Cancer

Published Mon 22 Nov 2021

Softball teams from across the ACT will come together over round 3 of domestic competition to fight breast and prostate cancer.

The Softball ACT Strike Out Cancer round will run from Saturday 27th to Tuesday 30th November, with a range of initiatives aimed at raising awareness and generating funds.

Teams will dress in pink and blue outfits, with gift vouchers awarded for best-dressed across each timeslot, while umpires will also wear Strike Out Cancer shirts and ball bags to show their support.

50% of all profits from Strike Out Cancer merchandise sold on the day also goes to charity, including blue and pink polo shirts and face masks, and each player will donate a gold coin towards the cause.

Softball ACT State Operations Manager Kyira Cox said the softball community had thrown their support behind the Strike Out Cancer initiative:

“Causes like this are close to many of us. Breast and prostate cancers are among the most common forms of cancer, and it was heart-warming to see how enthusiastic everyone was when the idea for a cancer awareness round was raised during the year. I can’t wait to see everyone in blue and pink on the diamond supporting Strike Out Cancer.”
